As a homeowner, you want to take every possible precaution against a fire in the house. You have smoke detectors in the appropriate spots, surge protectors for your appliances and electronics, and a fire extinguisher on each floor of your home. However, what type of fire suppression system do you have in your kitchen? Sprinkler systems can be a common choice for many homeowners, but are they the right choice? At FireBot, we’ve created the world’s first smart fire suppression system that can be an ideal alternative to traditional sprinkler systems. Keep reading to learn more!
Sprinklers Can Cause Water Damage
While a sprinkler system above your stove top can often extinguish a cooking fire, it can also lead to significant water damage in your kitchen. The water will put out the flames, but it can also get on the floor and find its way underneath your base cabinets, kitchen island, and more. Not to mention, your countertops can get covered in water, ruining any small appliances such as a coffee maker or toaster.
Too Much Water Suppressant
A sprinkler will often release water until the flames are extinguished, and may continue to run after the fire has been put out and the homeowner resets the system. This can result in too much water suppressant being released, covering your kitchen and causing damage as we mentioned above. With FireBot, our suppression system keeps everything controlled over the stove, dousing the flames and shutting off the activation system once the cooktop temperature has reached a safe level.
Doesn’t Cool the Cooktop Adequately
With a traditional sprinkler fire suppression system, the cooktop may not be adequately cooled by the water that’s released. This can lead to flare-ups and reflashes as the pots and pans on the stove are still hot enough to create high temperatures and more flames. With FireBot, our proprietary technology cools the stove top by extinguishing flames (from both grease and oil fires) and by applying a surfactant that creates a barrier between the hot pots and pans and the cooktop, depriving the fire of any more oxygen.
Our Non-Toxic and Biodegradable Suppressant
While a sprinkler system will use water from your home’s plumbing, FireBot uses a specially formulated liquid suppressant that’s non-toxic and biodegradable. Water can be a chore to clean up, but our suppressant cleans up easily, and since it’s contained to the cooktop, won’t take nearly as long to remove.
